I know and I am sorry but I havn't updated the site for a long time!! I've been told off!! Firstly a huge well done to all the swimmers who attended the junior development meet in Llanelli, many swimming for the their 1st competition - great success, well done to you all including a gold rom Katelin.
-
Also well done to all who swam in Torfaen - loads of PBs with gold medals for Kate & Olivia M with a load more final places - A superb performance.
-
In both of the above events there were a number of swimmers who should have been in them, but did not enter. Moving forward the coaches will speak to all relevant parents to inform them that they would recommend entering their child in future competitions. The coaches will not recommend if they felt your child wasn't ready.
-
Thanks to all who helped and attended the BBQ last Sunday - a little rain didn't stop the fun and once again a great turn out - well done Sian.
-
Camping weekend this Friday to Sunday - lets have a great time.

Superb results from last weekends Swansea Valley Junior meet where a load of medals were won - well done to you all. We drew 6th place with Nexus, however, on double checking we had not been awarded 5 points for a swimmer who was incorrectly disqualified. As a result we beat them! Well done to you all

Pembrey is booked and confirmed names now needed. We visited the Park yesterday and thought the camping area was superb. It will be real camping as no showers or electric hook ups!!! Toilets are available 24 hours. Names to Ceri ASAP please.
-
We have been offered free coaching with regards to Water Polo. The Committee has agreed to offer the 2nd hour in Cymmer as from 17th May to the coach and promote Water Polo in the club. Swim Wales are keen to promote and we have agreed to give it a go for at least 6 weeks. If it proves successful then we will look to continue. Great opportunity which will be fun and different for the kids.
-
On Sunday 17th October we are looking to hold our very 1st Junior Development Meet in Neath. Victoria is working on this and we are still in the early stages. If any parent is interested in joining a "Sub Committee" to oversea the run up to the event then please let me or any Committee Member know. Your support, as always, is needed and appreciated.

As from April we will be dropping the Glynneath session on a Monday. This was only a temporary measure as a result of the Lido fire which was paid for until end of March. I will confirm in future updates the exact date we will move to Cymmer. Please make every effort to use the Cymmer pool - we have used this session for the last 2 years and has proved successful. Excellent 4 lane training pool.
-
Great turn out at the National Pool Session last Saturday. We are going to look to see if we can captue more of this pool space as it is a fantastic opportunity for each child to get the experience of a 50m pool. Further updates to follow.
-
AGM is proposed for Thursday 25th March between 7-8pm in Glynneath pool. We normally use the room for this hour for land training for our older kids. I wll update in due course. Please make every effort to attend as it is your vote and support that makes the difference in moving the club forward.
-
Remember that the annual Swim Wales WASA fees are due soon. I should hear by the end of the week how much they are - they are normally about £30 per child per year.
-
We have been invited to 3 more Galas - Swansea Valley (Pontardawe) 25th April, Barry 17th April and another in Barry 25th September. Again will keep you updated.
-
We have now had confirmation that we can place a notice board in both Glynneath and Neath pools. This will help with communication once they arrive.
22nd FEBRUARY 2010
-
Another great weekend in the 2nd weekend of the West Wales Regionals with Daniella gaining a 3rd in the 800 frontcrawl, Oliver a 2nd in 50 frontcrawl and Amy a gold in 1500 frontcrawl - well done. PB's achieved by all including Ceiri, Emily & Kate.
-
Thanks to all the swimmers who helped out in the "Dual in the Pool" GB versus Germany last weekend. What agreat opportunity for the GB team to meet the Great Llandarcy!
-
Within the next month every swimmer will have to pay their annual WASA membership fee. Please note that this is a compulsary fee which is paid to Swim Wales and a child cannot swim or train if it has not been paid. I will update the site as soon as I know the fee. Ceri Owen takes charge of this.
-
The organisers of the Tiger Bay meet in April are asking for volunteers to help out on poolside. If your child has entered and you have had CRB checked with the club you are able to help out. Please contact Michelle if you would like to help. From experience time seems to go quicker when you have a job to do on poolside!

7th FEBRUARY 2010

Congratulations to the five swimmers who attended the 1st weekend of West Wales Regionals in Haverfordwest. Some great PB's with Daniella, Oliver and Ceiri making finals with Ceiri gaining a bronze in 200m BRS - well done everyone and good luck again this coming weekend
-
A number of parents have asked me to register them for this site - please note that there is no need to sign in or register. This was only needed when we had the photo gallery and shout box. I have recently removed both due to lack of interest.
-
Tiger Bay meet in Cardiff - closing date for entries is Wednesday 10th Feb - please contact Michelle ASAP if you want to enter your child and ask either of the coaches if unsure.
-
The coaches are looking into trying to get some National Pool training on Saturday afternoons which will apply to all swimmers who are able to enter the 50m pool events. Watch this space for further updates.
31st JANUARY 2010

A massive well done to every single swimmer who competed in yesterdays Junior Gala in Llanelli. There were some fantastic swims with many of the younger ones racing for the very first time - what a job they did - they were fab!
-
Coaches corner has been updated with a report on the Gala by Victoria
-
Good luck to all the swimmers who are due to compete in the West Wales Regionals over the next two weekends at Haverfordwest Pool
-
Fixtures link is now up to date. We will look to slot in more gala's so all the children can experience the competitive side, along with having a great day out
-
On the 20 - 21st February there will be a cracking competition being held in the National Pool in Swansea (Great Britain v Germany). Tickets can be obtained by accessing the following link http://www.welshasa.co.uk/store.asp This is a fantastic opportunity to get to see the GB swimmers with Rebecca Adlington and David Davies competing. Victoria has asked for volunteers to help during the day - please let her know if you can. This is worth going to see as it is on our door steps.
-
As a club we have pushed for years to get morning sessions with two now in place on Tuesday and Thursday. It is disapointing to hear from Victoria that the attendance now varies from 4 to 2 swimmers. We need our top level swimmers to attend these sessions if we are to continue them. A letter will be sent out soon to each applicable swimmer / parent with regards to this. We need to keep these sessions alive folks and we can only do it by making sure swimmers attend.
24th JANUARY 2010
****** FIXTURE LIST NOW UPDATED ******
- Congratulations to Ceiri Harries on gaining a bronze today in the 100M freestyle at the Urdd Final in Cardiff - Well Done.
- The squad sessions are now up to date with all the relevant pools & coloured squads who should look to attend each session. If you are in any doubt on which sessions your child should attend then please ask Dai or Victoria - They will be able to help you.
- We have had to scrap the proposed Saturday morning session in Cymmer as neither of the coaches are able to attend. This will be reviewed moving forward.
- AGM will probably be held in March, venue TBC. Nomination forms are already being passed around by Lynne Jones. If you want to nominate anyone or get yourself nominated then please speak to a Committee Member. The club is run voluntarily and more members on the Committee help it run smoother.
-
Sian is arranging a half term trip again - it will be on Wednesday 17th February which will be Rock Climbing down the Gower. See Facebook Site for all the details. Don't worry it is with a qualified company who specialises in these events for kids!
-
Good luck to all the swimmers who have been picked for next Saturdays Gala in Llanelli. It is important that every child makes it as they will be allocated a swim be it an individual swim or a relay swim. Gala's are great fun for parents and kids.
-
Over the next few days I will be loading up a fixtures link which will show all of the proposed events that both Dai & Victoria want us as a club to attend. Michelle Byrnes takes care of all the entries and will help you if you are unsure on how to enter an event. A number of the kids are now at an age for them to start entering competitions - ask the Coaches with regards to your child.
-
I propose keeping this site updated with any news every week - propably a Sunday. If I miss anything or if there is anything else you would like to be kept informed of then let me know.
